Interschools Team and Individual Showjumping

Stoke College pupils were delighted to compete in the Interschools Show Jumping competition at Wix recently.

Many thanks to the following who spent a very long Sunday (9.30 am – 8.30 pm) at the showground representing the school:-

Ed on William
Roxie on Highbury Darling
Molly on Willie Go Far
Olivia on Penucha Commando

Everyone rode well but Ed’s pony was not in a jumping mood however hard he rode! In the competition we were unplaced as a team but Molly was able to hang onto a 6th place as an individual and Olivia was just out of the rosettes, finishing about 10th. No mean feat out of a class of 70 competitors!!

There was then a very long wait for Molly who went as an individual in the last class, which was a complicated big course. Molly was one of the last to jump at 8 pm in the evening. There had been a few quick clear rounds and it was going to be hard to beat, but Willie was brilliant and cut the corners in the jump-off to slice one whole second from the time. Molly and Willie won the class in fine style which was very exciting.
