Speech Day and Prizegiving 2007

Chairman, John Parcell, took the audience through elements of the schools business plan listing the successes of the past 6 years as well as the challenges that lie ahead. The text of his speech will soon be found on another part of this website.

Head, John Gibson, took us through the idyllic days of his youth pointing out that childhood games, now often spurned in favour of the silver screen, were important rehearsals for adult life that are often missing from a young person’s experience today. He also introduced Annie and Fred (head girl and boy) as well as Katie and Barnaby (deputy head boy and girl).

Deputy Head, Matthew Parker (the modern version and not the 16th Century incumbent of the rooms above the library), told us as we prepare for inspection in October about the progress and successes he had been involved in during his time at Stoke which made him feel very proud indeed.

The school was delighted to welcome Joan and Graeme Garden to present prizes at Speech Day.

Joan and Graeme presented prizes to successful students prior to Graeme telling us about their long association with the college.

We all enjoyed a musical interlude when the Orchestra played Land of Hope and Glory by Sir Edward Elgar.

The current Senior Pupils then took us on a heartfelt and often tearful journey through their own school days.
Microsoft Case Study
In addition, the school's adoption of Microsoft Office 2007 has now been announced on a worldwide stage. Microsoft have just completed an investigation into the use of Office at Stoke College and have published a Case Study which you can view if you click here .
