Last Day of Term!

The last day of the spring term was a very unusual day indeed. The ski trippers had left for North America around 9.00am (check out their blog online) while the senior Rugby Team had preceded them by a couple of hours as they travelled to take part in the ISA Rugby 7’s.
This left around two thirds of the school (a much smaller proportion in the senior school) here. So, a morning of special activity was organized by Mrs Harland prior to the Easter Service and Easter Egg Hunt which both took place after lunch.
Pupils from years 9, 10 and 11 were organized into teams with the aim of producing an item of clothing from plastic refuse sacks which would then be presented to the school as a fashion show later in the morning.
A shop was set up in the LDU and teams were allocated a budget to spend there. Team members were given roles within the group and a photographic record of proceedings was kept for incorporation into a powerpoint presentation that would form part of the final show.
Teams were judged using six different criteria and a winner emerged – Dale’s Team – spot him in the photo!

Rowathon

The Rowathon, March 2008
The ‘Rowathon’ held in the sports Hall last week generated a tremendous amount of interest and a great deal of support. Six teams of eight ‘rowed the channel’ in relay: 35,000km in c. 1,500 chunks. There were two teams each drawn from the pupil, parent and staff bodies.
So who fared best? Well it was a very close run thing between the top parent team and the year 11 boys with the parents coming out on top (just) in a time of around 2 ½ hours.
Around £1.3k was raised towards the £2k needed to complete the sports pavilion (not too late to contribute) and the lack of detail with respect to winning time and amount raised is due entirely to the fact that Mr King is currently leading the school ski trip to a resort in North America.
Thanks to Mr King for the organization, all who took part for their dedication and Harry for the excellent photo!
