The annual PTA BBQ was a resounding success on Friday evening.  Always popular, over 320 tickets were sold this year as parents and friends enjoyed the excellent company and food, then to top it all, the fantastic music on offer from a number of groups that currently practice at school.  The standard was very high and more than one dad was seen to cry a tear of remembrance from his own school days!

The best of the bands at the PTA barbeque 2007

The BBQ’s success depends on an awful lot of people doing their thing, it is a real team effort and it seems invidious to select only a few to thank though mention must be made of the ‘steak donation’, they were bigger than ever this year and the quality was just fantastic.  Thank you to Mr Twogood who has supported the event in this way for a number of years.

Art and DT at the PTA BBQ 2007
We hope those attending the BBQ managed to see the Art and DT display in the PAB.  Your children, ably encouraged by Mrs Bowden and Mr Graves, have produced some wonderful work and it will remain there for you to see until after Speech Day.

Neil Murfitt from the Baxters Foundation hands over a cheque to Stoke College for £6,000

During the interval of the final performance of Hoodwinked, Neil Murfitt from the Baxters Foundation (think soup) handed over a cheque for £6,000. This donation has been used to pay for the installation of an excellent PA system with associated amps and cables that will be used in school events for years to come.

The excellent digital piano, donated by the PTA, can be plugged directly into this new system so allowing fantastic sounds to be heard by the audience. A big thank you to Baxters for this magnificent donation.

The Junior School production of ‘Hoodwinked’ a musical ‘Robin Hood’ romp played to appreciative audiences over two nights this week. Please enjoy the photographs below.
