Amy receives the Selina Handley Cup for the best overall GCSE results in 2007

We were delighted, on Wednesday evening, to welcome back member of last years Year 11 to receive their GCSE certificates.  The head, Mr Gibson, welcomed the group and commented on just how much they had changed in such a short space of time.  He also encouraged those present to think about the sacrifices involved in their success and thanked parents for providing the opportunity as well as teachers for their dedication.

The photograph shows Mr Gibson presenting the Selina Handley Cup for the best GCSE performance to Amy Roberts who achieved 2 A*’s, 4 A’s and 4 B’s in the recent examinations.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Hard at work during part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Watchers of this web site will be familiar with the fact that pupils from Years 10 and 11 have been working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.  On Tuesday this week they made a presentation to their team leader (Mr King) and the Head (Mr Gibson).
They reported on a challenge they had to complete during the expedition as well as on the things they had learned from the event.  One group reported on the litter problem encountered along the way and it was interesting to hear that most members thought they could improve their kit before the next walk!
They were unanimous in their belief that teamwork had proved beneficial to the success of the expedition.
