Sport is important at both individual and team levels. Qualified PE specialists introduce Junior School pupils to team, ball and hand eye co-ordination skills. These foundations foster the success and enjoyment to be had from a broad range of sports.

Team games such as soccer, rugby, hockey, cricket, tennis and netball are played alongside individual sports such as cross country running and swimming. Pupils are encouraged to enjoy simply taking part or to perform at the highest level including taking part in fixtures against local schools or at regional and national levels.

In recent years a number of pupils and teams have been particularly sucessful. Girls' teams have won the West Suffolk Hockey League as well as the Midland Bank Tennis League, while boys' teams have won the Allied Dunbar Sudbury Rugby 7s.

In cross country running Stoke pupils have come first in the Cut Hedge Cross Country Event, winning both individual and team events. Our pupils are regular winners in team events at the East Anglian ISA cross country, athletics and swimming events. Stoke College is the only school in East Anglia to win five National Athletic ISA titles in any one year.

Individual performances have included 1st place in the All English School Cross Country Championships; 1st places in National Athletics 100m, 400m, 1500m, Triple Jump, Long Jump and Shot Putt; and 2nd place at the ISA National Swimming Championships.
