We welcome children joining the school at the traditional intake Years, Reception, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 12 and are also happy to accommodate children wishing to join us in other years, presuming there is space in the year group. We work hard to integrate new pupils academically and socially very quickly.
We will offer places to children who we believe can contribute fully to the school and benefit from the curriculum we offer.
Stoke College welcomes all children who can make the most of the opportunities here and who can flourish in the caring environment of the College. Treating every child as an individual is important to us, and we welcome pupils with disabilities provided that they can access our site and curriculum.
The school will not discriminate against any prospective pupil on the grounds of gender, race, religion or belief, culture, sexual orientation, special educational needs and disability.
Prospective parents are invited to make an appointment, via the Registrar, to be shown the school and to meet the Head and discuss their child’s education. Pupils may also attend on this occasion but most parents prefer to meet the Head on their own in the first instance.
After this meeting parents may register their intention for their child to join the school.
A personalised taster day will be arranged for the pupil. This takes place on a normal school day and enables the pupil to get to know something of the school and the class he or she will be in. If a child would like more than one taster day to help smooth the transition into a new school we are happy to accommodate this.
Year 6 pupils joining Year 7 will be invited to a familiarisation day during the Summer Term prior to entry.
The Head writes to parents making a formal offer of a place.
