Getting the most from school life
Learning to live independently
Professional and dedicated staff run our Boarding House and boarding at Stoke College is a popular option.
The boarding house is a community where each member is valued and where all are encouraged in their individual endeavours. There is a strong commitment to building the self-esteem and confidence of each young person and both effort and involvement are highly regarded.
We offer boarding facilities with a range of provision for pupils in Year 5 and above, from full time boarding, to weekly boarding and flexiboarding.
Boarders are cared for by the boarding team who manage the accommodation, catering, activities and supervised prep sessions. The Boarding House provides a clear structure for study within a relaxed and friendly atmosphere as well as additional English support for those for whom it is a second language.
At weekends there are cultural and social trips as well as an opportunity to catch up on the week’s work. For families who require it, there is also the opportunity to attend Church of England Sunday service at the village church or Catholic mass at historic Clare Priory.
Full time boarding
From 2017, Stoke College offers full time boarding for students from both the UK and overseas.
The boarding house provides comfortable, modernised accommodation, including well-equipped social spaces, filtered wi-fi, and laundry facilities.
For those travelling from overseas, we arrange travel to and from local airports for the convenience of parents. Stansted Airport (London) is 50 minutes by taxi.
Other Boarding Options
We know that family lives can be very busy and boarding can offer a solution for families who want the best education for their children but who live at some distance from the College.
We therefore offer a range of options to suit each family’s needs.
Parents drop their children at the school’s boarding house anytime between 7pm and 9pm on Sunday evening and they will be looked after until 4pm the following Friday afternoon.
Flexi-boarding is available for up to two nights a week. We know that circumstances can change so a third night’s boarding can be arranged with prior notice.
