Christmas Boxes for Operation Christmas Child

Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child

On 17th November, Mr Parker, Angus (Yr. 11), Freya (Yr.6), Harry (Yr. 6) and I had the privilege to deliver shoeboxes for the first time, to the warehouse of “Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child”. On arrival, we met with a staff member, who gave us each a safety vest and went through some health & safety procedures before we were allowed to enter the warehouse.

When we entered we went straight to the school bus, to unload and count all the boxes that the students of Stoke College had donated. To the staffs delight, altogether, we donated 52 boxes and some educational posters for the schools.

We were then shown the station where all the boxes were counted, checked, packed and filled. Many people tend to donate “fillers”; these are objects which contribute into completing or creating a new box that can be sent off.

There were many volunteers who had to check each individual box; this was to make sure that there were no objects that reflected on anything to do with violence, war and the Government. After the tour, we were given the chance to help with checking the boxes and filling them in. We all had great fun and felt honoured to have the chance to help out with an amazing charity like “Operation Christmas Child”.

On behalf of the rest of the students who went, I would like to thank Mr Parker for giving us the opportunity to experience helping out with this charity.
