The governors are delighted to announce that on January 5th, the St. Edmundsbury Planning Control Committee approved plans to build six houses in the park in order to be able to finance refurbishments to the roof of the main building.
This is a major project - the process of seeking permission has lasted more than ten years. When the project is complete we will be able to re-open the second floor of the main building which frees up some excellent space and which will lead to the demolition of the prefabricated Science and Maths block. Expressions of interest are being sought from companies interested in the roof refurbishment, or the construction of the houses.
Plainly this is a very exciting time for the college. For 58 years we have been excellent custodians of a building which dates to 1420. This permission enables us to continue to care for the house for many years to come.
