Senior School Musical Production ‘Dream’

Following the success of our Junior School production of ‘Jack’, the Senior School are involved in final rehearsals for their production of ‘Dream’ based upon The Midsummer’s Dream, set in Glastonbury in the 1970’s.

There will be two evening performances on Tuesday 6th March and Thursday 8th March. The production will be staged at the Haverhill Arts Centre and tickets can be booked by phoning the ticket office on 01440 714140. £8.00 adult, £5.00 concessions.

Stoke College PTA – Antiques Roadshow

The PTA have organised a Antiques Roadshow, do you have any old or rare items you think may be worth a fortune? Come and meet the experts, James Grinter and Michael Bowles of ‘Flog it’ and BBC Essex fame who will value your prized possessions for only £2.00 per item. Saturday 25th February at Stoke College, from 10.30 till 2.00pm.

After School Activities

Some of the after school clubs have had to be cancelled this week due to the weather. Parents will be given a credit that can be used next half-term.

Sudbury Festival

Pupils from Stoke College will be taking part in the Sudbury Festival of Performing Arts. They will perform a ballet piece based on Swan Lake (Harry, Iona, Lydia, Kitty, Georgina and Jessica) and a contemporary duet (Rosie and Ellie). Their class will compete on Saturday 11th February at 10am.

Junior School Musical

Pupils and Staff in the Junior School would like to invite you to attend their musical production of ‘Jack’. The evening show is on Wednesday in the hall, starting at 7pm, no need to pre-book, just turn up on the night and enjoy.

Junior School Enrichment days

On Thursday and Friday the Junior school pupils will be involved in activities investigating the ‘Ancient Olympians’

We have decided to re-schedule this date, as there is a Senior School trip to Kettles Yard on this day. We will notify you of the re-arranged date when it has been confirmed.

Josh to blow his trombone beneath the Eiffel Tower

Well done to Josh (Yr 11) on being accepted for a Marching Band Course Camp organised by the Air Training Corps, playing his Trombone. This will involve a camp in April and the band will go on tour to Paris in July, where it will perform at Disneyland Paris and beneath the Eiffel Tower. Good Luck, Josh

ISA Cross Country Event

Congratulations to all of our pupils who took part in the event and well done to Alex Yr9 and Josh Yr8 who came 3rd and 10th respectively in their races and will now represent the East Region in the ISA National Championships in March at Princethorpe College.

ISA Football event

On a cold day, Stoke hosted 20 ISA Schools from the region and with over 60 football games being played it proved to be a very successful day with Copthill School winning the event. Much praise must be made to several of our Senior pupils who helped on the day.

Thomas creates 'Jack' trailer

Thomas in Year 6 has put together this really rather excellent trailer for 'Jack', the current Junior School production. A 19MB .m4v file, it should be viewable in QuickTime and Windows Media Player.

Junior School Musical Production

Final rehearsals, prop making and the creating of costumes is very evident this week as the Junior School prepare for their production of ‘Jack’. We have invited many local schools and people in the comunity to the matinee and certainly hope that you will support the pupils by attending either of the shows. You do not need a ticket as entry is free; you may need to pay to leave!!!

Senior Production ‘The Dream‘

Later this term the Senior school will be staging their production of ’The Dream’. Over the past three years we have very successful staged the senior production at the Haverhill Arts Centre. We will let you know when tickets are available.

Year 10/11 Art Trip

Mrs Bowden has organised a trip to visit the Kettle’s Yard Art Gallery in Cambridge on Monday 6th February as part of their exam course.

GCSE Exams

Our Year 11 pupils have been involved in taking important modular GCSE exams this week. Students involved in English, Science, History and PE have been studying hard over the Christmas holidays and teaching staff have been working hard at lunchtimes and afterschool providing additional lessons to ensure pupils are thoroughly prepared for these exams.

Planning Permission Granted

After ten years of negotiations with the planning authorities we have finally been granted planning permission to build houses on an unused area of the College grounds that will allow us to fund much needed work to the main house, this will also provide us with new teaching rooms on the upper floors in the main house.
