Entrance

Children may join Stoke College wherever there is a space.  Every effort is made to integrate new pupils, academically and socially, as quickly as possible.  Our policy is to accept a comprehensive intake.  We require that children will fit into the Stoke Community and benefit from what we offer.

Stoke College welcomes all children who can make the most of the opportunities that we offer and who can flourish in the caring environment of the College.  Treating every child as an individual is important to us, and we welcome pupils with disabilities provided that they can access our site and curriculum.

We advise parents of a child with disabilities to discuss their child’s requirements with us before he or she participates in our admissions process so that we can make adequate provision for him/her during that process.  Parents should provide a copy of a medical report to support their request, for example, for large print material or other special arrangements.

The school will not discriminate against any prospective pupil on the grounds of gender, race, religion or belief, culture, sexual orientation, special educational needs and disability.

Entrance Procedure

Prospective parents make an appointment, via the school secretary, to be interviewed and shown the school by the Head. The pupil(s) may attend on this occasion.

An admissions form is completed, along with a non-refundable registration fee of £50.

A personalised trial day is arranged for the pupil who will attend a normal day at school. This will allow us to assess the pupil(s) and the pupil(s) to get to know something of the school and the class he or she will be in.

The Head will write to parents making an offer of a place if appropriate and enclosing a Stoke College parental contract and confidential medical forms. The contract and medical forms are signed and returned, along with a refundable deposit of £200. The pupil will then be placed on the relevant class list.

Year 6 pupils joining Year 7 will be invited to a familiarisation day during the summer term prior to entry. Suitable familiarisation arrangements will be made for pupils joining other year groups.
