Teaching in the Junior School

The Junior School is housed in a separate building from the rest of the College and it operates on a different timetable so the younger students do not play or eat with students from the Senior School. Junior School children can expect to take Music, IT, Art, Design Technology, Drama and PE in classrooms in other parts of the College.

Classes are small, averaging twelve per year. For the nine to eleven year olds lessons are taught by subject specialists. For seven to nine year olds the majority of their lessons are taught by subject specialists, while the youngest are taught by teachers who specialise in the teaching of that age group.

The Junior School curriculum is wide. A ten year old can expect lessons in English, Maths, ICT, Science, Choir, Personal and Social Education, PE and Games, Art, French, Dance, Music, Geography, RE, Drama and History. Twice a term students come off timetable and take part in enrichment days. Subjects for these days include the History of the College to Indian Art. French is taught to all students.
