Building confidence, reaching milestones
Achievements and Success
Children enter the Senior School in Year 7, aged eleven. With new children joining those that have moved up from the Prep School there is a real sense of excitement and of pastures new.
An extended curriculum widens pupils’ horizons and children take on more responsibility for themselves and as part of the school. Opportunities for visits and outreach extend and the pace of learning quickens.
The goal is of course to achieve the best GCSE results each child can, but our commitment to happiness and success on many levels remains firm and it is inspiration, not pressure, that pushes our children on.
GCSE Exam Results
Stoke College students celebrated some excellent GCSE results in August 2017 with a number of pupils achieving top grades across many of their subjects.
The school’s results have risen sharply in the last year in comparison with the national picture and staff were delighted to see Stoke students bucking the trend.
89% of pupils achieved 5 A*-C, with 84% gaining these grades including English and Maths.
Beyond the classroom
Outside the classroom life is very busy. The Prep and Senior School productions and Arts Festival Gala concert are highlights of the school year. Clubs run from 4.15 to 5.15pm.
In sport children compete against other schools from the age of ten upwards. The swimming pool is constantly in use throughout the summer term and during the winter months we take Prep School students to an indoor pool once a week so that all our children learn to be confident swimmers.
We spend much time developing the children’s sense of the wider world through our charitable efforts. Recent projects have raised donations for the Suffolk Air Ambulance, World Wildlife Fund and the Haverhill Reach Project Food Bank.
