A New Vision for the Old College

These are exciting times for our School. In November 2019 the site and operation was acquired by new owners who are determined to transform and improve the education we offer. They are committed to investing millions in buildings and infrastructure and to creating a truly international Sixth Form alongside the existing local school, which will continue to take children from Pre-Prep upwards. Indeed, the priority is to serve the local communities around us and to establish ourselves as a model of high quality, affordable independent education.

Our first task is to appoint a new Head for September 2020. We have assembled an outstanding governance team, who will serve as our new Advisory Council, and we are already improving provision throughout the School.

In the coming weeks, this website will be replaced by a completely new site which is currently in the hands of our developers.

The operational management of the Senior School (Years 9-13) is  being overseen by Acting Head, Charis Hunn-Smith; while the Junior School (Reception to Year 8) is being led by Acting Head, Rebecca Watson. They are outstanding young teachers and leaders, deeply respected within the School, and a key part of the transition team.

The Old College at Stoke-by-Clare is a wonderful place. I hope you will visit us and consider becoming a part of the adventure we are embarking upon.

Joe Francis, Interim Principal

Variety of Opportunity

“The opportunities to explore physical and mental boundaries set the school apart.”

Our Ethos: Learning for life

At Stoke College children learn in a secure and happy environment, where they are kept busy with purposeful and varied activities which challenge them. Through this approach they become increasingly confident in everything they do.

We are proud of our beautiful and historic setting on the borders of Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire. We have an extremely positive learning environment set in 25 acres of parkland where the children can enjoy space and freedom.

The site first became a seat of learning six hundred years ago and whilst we value this heritage, we offer a thoroughly contemporary education, concentrating on personal intellectual growth and on the development of confidence and character.

Our focus is on strong academic progress, providing too a breadth of experience and opportunity to develop character and help each child to discern their future. We offer a caring community that allows confidence to grow, talents to blossom and weaknesses to be strengthened.
