A letter from the Principal

Dear Friends of Stoke College,

What a truly wonderful start to the term we have had. There has been a real sense of buzz and excitement.

Bearing in mind the new procedures we put in place, all the students have been incredibly co-operative with the staff. I am very grateful indeed to Miss Watson, who has masterminded our safe return by following a plethora of legislation! The students have now settled into lessons well and seem to be enjoying the new activities we have on offer (more on this below).

Many of you will have heard that lunches are now a particular highlight with the students, thanks to our newly appointed Head Chef Paul and his team, following the school’s decision to transfer from an external company to ‘in-house’. An army marches on its stomach, and if the past few days of culinary delights are anything to go by, Stoke College will soon be Masters of the Universe!

Students also seem delighted with newly enhanced facilities around the campus: a new and very colourful library, with a wealth of new, exciting literature; our first ever senior students’ common room, fantastically furnished thanks to the generosity of Year 11 parents; a well-being centre to offer emotional support to students and a place to relax, and a wonderful outdoor classroom (‘The Bolt’, a gift from Colonel Boulter, Headmaster of Barnardiston Hall Preparatory School).

We are looking forward to the rest of the term and shall keep you posted on our exciting developments.

Warmest wishes,

Dr Gareth Lloyd
